About the Club
Nethermoss Archers were first formed in 1958 as part of the Sports & Social Club of English Electric, Netherton, Bootle. The Club’s name is taken from the effigy of a Knight thought to be the Knight of Netherton Moss, Sir Richard Molyneux circa 1270 that is situated in Sefton St Helen's Church.
On the closure of English Electric, the Club moved to several locations before settling at Hurlston Hall, Scarisbrick after gaining funding from Sport England and a grant from the LCC Community Chest. This move ensured uninterrupted shooting throughout the summer. During the winter months, October to April, the Club shoots indoors at Burscough Sports centre. On the 24th September 2010, the club was granted the prestigious Sport England 'Clubmark' award and is now registered with the Archery GB 'OnTarget' club development programme. |
