Outdoor Field Rules
Nethermoss Archers Outdoor Shooting 2022
We’re pleased to say that our field at Hurlston Hall will be available for shooting from Monday 4th April 2022.
You will be able to shoot anytime from dawn to dusk except when the field is closed for grass cutting etc, beginners courses or taster event (see below).
However we particularly encourage newer members to attend for the Club sessions (Saturday afternoon and Tuesday evening). Help will usually be available from more experienced members and our coaches during these times.
Please note that use of the field is subject to compliance with the Club rules (see below).
Also please note that the number of lanes will be restricted initially due to Hurlston Hall using part of the field for golf driving. This will continue until their new driving range is open. We currently expect this to be towards the end of April.
We also anticipate that some work will be ongoing to improve the car park.
Please bear with us whilst we strive to accommodate all of this with as little as possible disruption to your shooting.

Rules
- Members must sign in before shooting. The book to sign in is kept in the hut.
- 3 targets will be left out (foam bosses at 70m and 50m and a straw boss at 30m) but other targets may be set up as needed. These should be returned to the hut after shooting.
- Lanes not available for shooting will be roped off. Any such lanes must not be used.
- A field captain must be nominated by those present. The field captain is responsible for providing clear commands to control shooting and arrow collection. If more than 3 archers are shooting the commands should be given using a whistle.
- Any additional targets should be properly secured with guy ropes to avoid the boss falling and causing injury and damage to arrows.
- The rain cover on any straw boss left out must be replaced and secured after shooting.
- Any junior member (under 18) shooting must be supervised at all times by at least one adult member of Archery GB (AGB shooting rule 103 c) ii)).
- If any person is seen, by anyone, to encroach onto the field beyond the set boundaries then the ‘fast’ or ‘stop’ command must be clearly given and all shooting must cease until the nominated field captain deems it safe to resume shooting.
- All lost arrows are to be recorded in the book provided (kept in the hut).
- The last person leaving the field at any time is to ensure the hut is securely locked (note 2 full turns of the key are required).
- Any damage to club equipment is to be reported.
